Summary

Job Summary:  Full time RN at PIMG.  Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient. Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Will assist physician by scribing:  Accompanies the physician and directly observes patient encounters without directly assisting with patient care

Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient.

Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.

Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and alleviates apprehension.

Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.

Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy, including patient and family instruction.

Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, supplies, and assists with minor procedures.

Accurately documents the events and decision-making in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting including but not limited to patient history, physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations with other providers, diagnoses, discharge instructions and prescriptions.

Complete clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician orders for tests and medications.

Job Qualifications:  Licensed RN in the state of Kansas.  CPR certified.  Requires basic computer literacy within a Windows environment, including word processing functions, use of the internet, and computer-based education.  Keyboarding ability required.  Experience using Athena documentation software will be an asset, to include nursing assessments, electronic MAR with bedside barcode scanning, and Computerized Physician Order Entry.   Successful candidates should be ready to use information technology in a meaningful way, in order to improve patient outcomes and ensure patient safety.
