Our Community

Pratt is a charming, vibrant town of about 7,000 people, strategically located in South Central Kansas on U.S. highways 54, 281, and 61. Our location offers many advantages, as it is easy to get to many places, including Wichita’s Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, which is about an hour away.

Agriculture and railroad helped form the community into the regional trade center it is today. Pratt Regional Medical Center is truly a regional resource people from all over South Central and Southwest Kansas depend upon. Pratt also boasts Pratt Community College, two superb K-12 education systems, the oil and gas industry, a manufacturing base, a cotton gin and an ethanol plant, among other important businesses, which provide opportunity and strength to our community.

Pratt County and surrounding counties offer some of the richest hunting opportunities in the state, including fishing many sport species at the Pratt County Lake. There is easy access to world class bird-watching, which peaks during spring and fall migrations at nearby state and federal wildlife areas. Cheyenne Bottoms, Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, Pratt Sandhills and Texas Lake are all locations within a short distance.
