Pratt is strategically located in south central Kansas on highways U.S. 54,
281 and 61. The location offers many advantages – small-town charm, yet
close proximity to the cities when needed. Pratt is approximately one hour
from Wichita. Agriculture and the railroad have helped form the community into
the regional trade center it is today. Our regional medical center along with
a community college, outstanding educational system, oil and gas industry, a
manufacturing base, cotton gin and ethanol plant provide opportunity and
strength to our community.
The Pratt area and surrounding counties offer some of the richest hunting
opportunities in the state. Sport fishing species include small and
large-mouth bass, crappie, catfish, striper, wiper and walleye. Wildlife in
the Pratt area is abundant. There is easy access to world class bird-watching,
peaking during spring and fall migrations at nearby state and federal
wild-life areas. Cheyenne Bottoms, Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, Pratt
Sandhills and Texas Lake are all located within a short distance.
Pratt Recreation Department offers youth and adults a variety of sporting
interests year round. Adult activities include basketball, indoor/outdoor
volleyball, softball, tennis and aerobics. Youth activities include softball,
baseball, T-ball, tennis, basketball, soccer, flag football, roller hockey,
swimming lessons, swim team, gymnastics, wrestling and karate.
