Summary

Job Summary: The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMNNP) works as part of an integrated interdisciplinary team serving individuals with behavioral health problems within a primary health care setting. PMNNP will provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services at PRMC Internal Medicine. The PMHNP will work in coordination with PRMC’s outpatient counseling services and providers to provide psychiatric services to adult and youth clients with behavioral health issues. This position will be supervised by a Medical Doctor with whom there is a Collaborative Practice Agreement established upon hire. Services will be both office-based and telehealth to serve clients at remote locations. The PMHNP will work in collaboration with appropriate staff to coordinate care, assist with insurance pre-authorization, and caseload management.

 

Minimum Required Education: Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with focus on Psychiatric nursing. Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health.

 

Minimum Required Experience:  At least 1-2 years providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders.  Ability to work with both adult and youth/child populations.

 

Preferred Experience: 3+ years of experience as a psychiatric provider. Experience in telemedicine.

 

Licenses/Certifications: Must be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). An unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Kansas. Must have a valid unrestricted DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Kansas. A state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Kansas. No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in any federal health care program (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP). Maintain credentials and licensure with all major insurance companies and licensing boards with the assistance of PRMC credentialing staff.
