Medical Technologist (MT)

Summary

Job Summary: Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal or abnormal components. Collect and study blood cells, their numbers, and morphology, using microscopic techniques (hematology). Perform blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Provide clinical chemistry testing (blood) microscopy (urine), and coagulation, blood bank and transfusion, microbiology. Record findings in central computer database and report critical values to physicians, health care providers and patients in timely manner. Review reports for accuracy and disseminate to appropriate departments. Perform proficiency testing.

Requirements: Requires a Master's Degree in Medical Technology and 1 year of experience. In lieu of, will accept a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology and 5 years of experience, or any suitable combination of education, training or experience thereof. No less than a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology and 5 years of experience is acceptable. *Must possess American Society of Clinical Pathology Certification.
